Description
The way armies operate and the methodology of warfare has always been shaped by the society of the time. That is why it is important to reflect on how warfare has changed in the decades since the end of the Cold War and what phenomena we can observe in the recent past and in the conflicts currently taking place before our eyes. If we look at these changes, we can see that methods of warfare that do not only use traditional military methods but also aim to affect society as a whole are increasingly gaining a leading role. However, there is still a confusing conceptual chaos regarding the new paradigm. Many people talk about "hybrid warfare", although there is no real evidence for its actual existence. On the other hand, the emergence of fourth-generation warfare is confirmed by several experiences: this new method is itself a grand strategy that rejects previous limitations, a toolbox of modern interest assertion transformed by globalization, used by international and domestic actors. It combines both civilian and military methods, is cheap, effective and easy to deny, so this solution is increasingly coming to the fore compared to costly and long-lasting traditional conflicts, while it is not certain that the traditional military tools of the West will work against it in the future. In his book, the author reviews the theoretical background of this new methodology and outlines the current trends and the outlines of further changes expected in the future through case studies, in order to make it clear to all interested parties how military science is changing today.
